Laura Osnes, who has risen from the winner of the reality TV competition You’re The One That I Want to one of Broadway’s most sought-after leading ladies. In her first solo album, Dream A Little Dream, the 2011 Tony nominee brings fans on her journey from “small town Sandy” to Broadway’s new Cinderella. Along the way, she invites friends to join her on the live album (recorded during Osnes’ run at the Café Carlyle in June 2012). Osnes’ previous co-stars Jeremy Jordan, Tom Wopat and hubby Nathan Johnson all compliment her beautiful soprano and playful personality while adding context to her dreams-do-come-true story. However, Osnes doesn’t need the guys to shine, she’s a bona fide star who seamlessly transitions from country to jazz and more. There's no song she can’t handle: from a sultry rendition of “Fever” to the clear-eyed Broadway classic “Till There Was You” to the emotional “I Think It’s Going to Rain,” Osnes never strikes a false chord. She ends the album with a bonus treat: her take on the Cinderella song “In My Own Little Corner” is simply perfect. If this is what we can expect from the upcoming production of Cinderella, January can’t arrive soon enough! Until then, indulge in Osnes’ Dream A Little Dream, available digitally beginning September 18.
